About John
After passing the Ohio bar later that year, John began his law practice defending national insurance companies, product manufacturers, and trucking companies against personal injury, product liability, and wrongful death claims. Just prior to joining the Kisling, Nestico and Redick, John was a shareholder at one of Ohio’s largest regional defense firms, Reminger Co., LPA, where he spent more than a decade. During that time, John took dozens of cases to jury verdict as lead trial counsel. John’s trial experience included defending consumer claims against product manufacturers, as well as defending catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims arising from defective products, auto accidents, and truck collisions. John also presented seminars to local and regional legal groups on claims handling and trial practices.
While John was still defending insurance companies, a colleague approached and asked him to serve as lead trial counsel on behalf of a client who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident, through no fault of the client. The client’s own insurance company denied full payment of the claim and disputed the extent of the injuries. As a result, the client and his wife experienced significant personal and economic hardship. John agreed to handle the case, took it to trial, and obtained a six-figure jury verdict for the clients – well in excess of the insurance policy limits. John and the client subsequently proceeded against the same insurance company in a separate lawsuit, seeking additional damages for the insurance company’s failure to properly evaluate, negotiate, and handle the client’s claim. John obtained a substantial additional settlement award in favor of his client for the bad faith committed by the insurance company in the handling of their own policyholder’s claim. In representing that client, John recognized a new satisfaction in his practice, having helped an individual and his wife obtain a just recovery. Shortly thereafter, John began to expand his practice in an effort to assist individuals whenever possible. John’s subsequent successes include obtaining significant six-figure bad faith damages for the family of a woman tragically killed in an auto accident and denied uninsured/underinsured motorist benefits by her auto insurance carrier.
John joined KNR in 2010 and devotes his practice exclusively to the litigation of personal injury, wrongful death, personal and commercial insurance coverage, bad faith, and class-action claims. He finds new personal reward in his practice now – helping consumers, friends, and neighbors who unfortunately need experienced legal representation following unforeseen accidents. Many of John’s cases are the result of referrals from other attorneys. John’s unique knowledge, perspective, and experience, like that of all members of the KNR team of attorneys, ensure the best possible results for the firm’s clients.
John is married and lives with his wife and three children in Broadview Heights, Ohio. He and his family are active parishioners at St. Basil the Great Parish in Brecksville and enjoy volunteering in local community and parish activities.

Notable Work
$3,100,000 Settlement in Icy Road Truck Accident
Recently, a 33-year-old truck driver who was the passenger in semi-truck when it slid off an icy road. As a result, our client suffered multiple traumatic injuries, including a brain injury that resulted in permanent memory loss and other balance and mobility related issues. KNR was able to overcome several legal issues and obtain a settlement that included payment of a $1,000,000 subrogation claim and $2.1 million in additional funds. The total settlement of $3,100,000 was the result of pre-suit negotiations and was essential in helping the driver get his life back in order without financial devastation. Individual results may vary based on the facts, injuries, jurisdiction, venue, witnesses, parties, and other factors.
$80,000 For Female T-boned at a Stop Sign
Our client, a middle-aged female, was traveling down a rural road in Richland County when she was t-boned by a young driver who failed to stop at a stop sign. The impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway and come to a rest in a nearby field. There was significant damage to both vehicles and loss of consciousness by our client, who was subsequently transported to the ER. The collision caused multiple abrasions, bruising, injury to her ear, dizziness, lightheadedness, vertigo, neck, back, temporary short-term memory loss, and nausea. Due to her injuries, she underwent multiple months of physical therapy. The other driver admitted to and accepted fault for the collision. The claim was resolved for $80,000. Individual results may vary based on the facts, injuries, jurisdiction, venue, witnesses, parties, and other factors.
$75,000 Settlement For Passenger in a High-Speed Accident
Our client was a passenger that was hit, at a high rate of speed, on a local highway. The defendant, who happened to be a plaintiff attorney, denied a sobriety test at the scene and her OVI was later dismissed. Liability was admitted for the accident, however, and while punitive damages were going to be bifurcated per the judge’s order, we nevertheless had the claim pending. Our client sustained neck and back injuries, including a herniated disc for which she underwent a discectomy. A primary issue in the case was her pre-existing DJD and the fact that the surgery occurred three years after the accident. The defendant IME report only attributed emergency room treatment and a few weeks of treatment thereafter as being related to the accident. A few weeks prior to trial, we mediated the case and it settled for $75,000. Individual results may vary based on the facts, injuries, jurisdiction, venue, witnesses, parties, and other factors.
$400,000 Settlement For Elderly Woman Injured In Stop Sign Accident
Our client suffered a fractured knee and closed head injury when another driver pulled from a stop sign into our client’s path, causing a significant collision. Our client, who was in her 80’s at the time of the crash, had been previously living independently and caring for herself. However, as a result of her injuries, she was confined to a nursing home for an extended period of time. Subsequently, her physical and mental health rapidly declined. KNR filed a lawsuit to recover insurance proceeds from the at-fault driver. After depositions, court filings, and a mediation, the case was resolved for $400,000–providing payment of her medical bills and future care, in addition to pain and suffering from her injuries. Individual results may vary based on the facts, injuries, jurisdiction, venue, witnesses, parties, and other factors.
