John M. Clark is a partner in the firm's New Jersey office. His practice focuses on complex insurance coverage, litigation, and consulting. He handles various first party and third party coverage, as well as the defense and monitoring of various matters including claims such as but not limited to catastrophes, fraud, arson, theft, and business interruption. John and his practice group also specialize in defending surplus lines insurers throughout the United States regarding the application of individual states' insurance statutes to such insurers. John has handled and litigated matters for foreign and domestic insurers throughout the United States and its territories, including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

John has extensive experience in the London- based insurance market for well over a decade and has a distinct appreciation and understanding of the relationships of MGAs, brokers, and insurers. As such, John brings his collective experience of the surplus lines and London- based insurance market to better assist in handling the distinct needs of these markets. In order to better understand and serve the London-based insurance market, John spends considerable time in London and Europe.

John's London-based clients include Terra Nova, Markel International, Ace UK, Amlin, St. Paul/Travelers, St. Paul Re, Faraday, Chaucer, Hiscox, SA Meacock, Catlin, Beazley, Alea, Thompson Heath Bond, Euclidian, Atrium, Kiln, Heritage, and Map, among others. In the Domestic US market clients include AIG, Amica, The Philadelphia Contributionship Ins. Co., Germantown Ins. Co., Northpointe Ins. Co., The Fair Plan, Selective Ins. Co., and Allstate Ins. Co., among many others.

In addition, with his extensive litigation experience and his knowledge of surplus lines issues, John is a frequent lecturer on litigation issues affecting surplus lines carriers doing business in the United States. While recently in London, he presented seminars to the Claims Departments of various Underwriters at Lloyd's of London on topics such as Preserving Privileges in Litigation: The Importance of Direct Attorney Reporting and Reducing Your Risk of Litigation through Effective Claims Handling.
