About John
The fees for bankruptcy ch. 7 range from approx. $1,200-1,500 plus the court filing fees. We can usually work out payment plans for clients which fit their budget. The fees for loan modifications and foreclosure defense vary depending on the individual case but are usually less than what many other law firms charge. Some cases such as family law are based upon an hourly rate with an upfront retainer required but I work with my clients and the fees are usually cheaper than what many other lawyers charge.

Questions & Answers
How did you build a successful practice?
Building a successful practice is all about the having happy clients who are well informed and with my office responding to their concerns promptly. When you have a happy client they are also more likely to refer clients which many have done. I also have a successful track record with obtaining the results my clients are looking for.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should look for a lawyer that they feel comfortable using and that they have a connection with. The lawyer should listen to all of their concerns and should keep them well informed whole entire time. Even if the lawyer thinks some aspect is trivial the lawyer should treat the issue the way their client expects it to be handled.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Knowledge of the local judicial system and trustees are a major key to success. The lawyer has to know how different Judges and Trustees handle their cases including what is important and what is not is key to a client's case going smoothly.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
During the initial consultation I meet with client and they explain to me their entire background leading up to where they are now. I ask some relevant questions regarding their eligibility to proceed and in which direction which should proceed to accomplish their goals. I explain the process after their case is filed of how their case should proceed and any potential roadblocks along the way. I also answer any questions they may have so they leave my office with a clear understanding of what needs to be done.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
For bankruptcy cases I would need to know what type of debt they have and approximate dates they incurred the debt. I would also need current financial information along with a copy of current pay stubs and tax returns. I also need information regarding any transfers of assets/property with any significant value within the past several years.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
My office is different from most other law firms in that client communication is key and we always answer phone calls or respond to clients in a short period of time. The client always receives a phone call back from an attorney and not just a secretary or paralegal. I also offer evening hours, lower fees and payments plans and work with clients on the fees if they have a financial hardship.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of my job is being able to help clients out of their hardship and giving them peace of mind and relieving them of their burden so they can sleep easier at night.
Are you involved in your community?
I am a member and participate in the Suffolk County pro bono foreclosure project helping homeowners obtain loan modifications on the homes if they cannot afford to hire any attorney. We represent the homeowner in the foreclosure settlement conferences to obtain a mortgage modification through the court supervised process.
