Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I represented a beneficiary of a decedent's estate valued at slightly under $3,000,000.00. The Co-Executors were simply not acting in a timely manner, nor were they keeping my client informed of the administration of the estate. I obtained a court order for an accounting requiring the Co-Executors to do their job. By acting with tenacity and requiring the Co-Executors to fulfill their fiduciary duty to my client, my client received his share of this estate, amounting to over $1,000,000.00.

How did you build a successful practice?

By delivering effective and thorough documents to every client, keeping every client informed of what is relevant to their best interests, meeting deadlines, and applying the law to the facts to achieve the goal(s) of my client.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Someone who communicates effectively with the client, is candid but polite, and who makes an effort to see to it that he and the client are "on the same page" throughout representation. Look for someone who understands why you need an attorney and the role of the attorney in your specific case. Look for someone who sees the "big picture" but who is analytical and pays attention to details of your case.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

If your case requires appearances in court, it is important to hire an attorney who is familiar with local rules and practices.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

Hopefully, a diagnosis of the issue and what I, as the attorney, can accomplish for the individual if they retain me as their attorney.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

The facts and what the individual hopes to achieve as the end result.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I bring a background in accounting and the financial aspects of a situation. I ask questions necessary to clearly understand what each client wants and needs from me, as their attorney. I am familiar with dealing with creditors' claims against the estate and the priority given those claims by state and federal law.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

I find that achieving the transfer or preservation of wealth for a client is very rewarding. I find that giving a client peace of mind is a rewarding experience also.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I like to read, work crossword puzzles, watch movies, walk, and play tennis.

Are you involved in your community?

Yes, I am an associate member of the Board of Directors of a credit union.
