About Jonathan

Jonathan K. Hollin graduated from the Duke University School of Law in 1982. He completed his undergraduate work in 1979, graduating with honors from Wharton School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

From 1982 to 1984, Mr. Hollin served as a Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney. Thereafter, until joining Powell Trachtman in 1987, Mr. Hollin served as General Counsel for a Philadelphia-based company with business interests located throughout the United States. His responsibilities included supervision of litigation and litigation prevention and the negotiation of major refinancing and loan restructuring. Mr. Hollin also served as a member of the senior management team. As part of his duties, Mr. Hollin would interface with the public accounting firms regarding audit opinions and disclosures.

At Powell Trachtman, Mr. Hollin has focused his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, the defense of professionals (especially accountants and lawyers) and the defense of colleges, universities and other educational institutions.

In the commercial litigation field, Mr. Hollin has substantial experience in, for example, the resolution of partnership and shareholder conflicts, matters involving fraudulent conveyances, constructive trusts, breach of contract, civil rights, real estate title issues and commercial torts.

Mr. Hollin's experience in accounting malpractice actions involves, for example, claims based on the failure to uncover embezzlements, Ponzi schemes, audits, compilations, reviews, tax planning and tax return preparation. Mr. Hollin successfully represented an accounting firm in a case in which the Third Circuit Court of Appeals greatly limited the scope of “deepening insolvency” claims against accountants.

Mr. Hollin's defense of educational institutions has encompassed, for example, claims based on wrongful death, molestation, failure to supervise, failure to properly coach and premises liability. Many of his cases have included allegations involving psychological/emotional injuries, permanent paralysis, permanent brain injuries and death.
