Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I like to think we make a difference on all of our cases. As a lawyer our clients come to us in their worst hours. We give each case the time and attention needed to get the best resolution while also seeing what we can do for our clients to help get them and their lives back to together. I would be wrong to say we are always successful, but I know we are always trying.

How did you build a successful practice?

I built a successful practice by learning from other peoples successes and failures. Before opening Jordan Law, we sat down with EVERYONE we could to pick their brains about what to do and what not to do. In the end, we might have been a bit cautious with our initial formation of the practice, but I cannot say we have made a wrong decision yet, because here we are.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should look for a lawyer they feel comfortable with. Many people I come across are solely concerned about the price, but often times you get what you pay for when you hire the cheapest lawyer you can find. Our firm is not the cheapest, but we try to be as affordable as we can while still offering top level representation.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Very important. Having been a prosecutor here in Orange County before opening my practice, I have a pre-existing relationship with many of the people involved in new cases (officers, prosecutors, judges, etc.) While that sometimes doesn't mean much, just knowing someones direct phone number or how a Judge likes to see motions organized can be the difference between success and failure on a case.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

We don't do many free consultations. In our experience people who are looking for a free consultation are usually not open to trusting the advice that they get. We do provide a free consultation for everyone who finds us through lawyers.com, and try to give those people the best advice we can in the situation. Often times someone who we do a consult with will try another lawyer (or remain with the public defender) only to realize our advice was correct and give us a call a month or two later and sign up.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

During any consultation I need the same thing - the truth...sometimes a client with leave out a fact or straight up give me bad information at the initial consultation and it will blow up in their face going forward because the advice/strategy/motions that we file will be moot or denied due to the lack of correct information given.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

First off, we focus more on litigation in our firm that most other lawyers. I have always been involved with Mock Trial and as such I genuinely enjoy being in motions and trial, so we make sure to stay up to date on case law, evidence, etc so that our clients get the best courtroom representation possible. The other big thing that is different for us, is that we provide all of our clients with a 24/7 line to an attorney. I might not always be able to answer immediately, but I will return the call as soon as I can. This goes to back to my belief that as an attorney you are making other people's worst problems your problems, so we try to treat clients how we would want to be treated and that involved being able to speak to their attorney immediately instead of having to leave a message with a secretary or paralegal.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Getting the correct resolution for my clients is the best part of my job. Seeing the look on their faces when the case is over, or the motion is won, and to see that they finally have this case off of their chest and are happy again.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

In addition to law, I am very active in education, I coach a trial team over at Barry University, I mentor students in law school, undergrad, and high school, and we are very involved in local events. My wife and I constantly attend local races (usually 5Ks or 10Ks), go to community farmer's markets and attend new local restaurant openings and other local events.
