About Joseph
Mr. Foster is counsel in the Litigation Department. He is a trial lawyer specializing in medical malpractice defense, defending insurance carriers in coverage disputes and bad faith claims, products liability defense, and the like.
Mr. Foster received his B.S. degree, magna cum laude, in 1950 from LaSalle College and his LL.B. in 1953 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Thereafter he served as Law Clerk to the Honorable T. McKeen Chidsey, Pennsylvania Supreme Court in 1956. Mr. Foster served as Vice-Chancellor (1979), Chancellor-Elect (1980), and Chancellor (1981) of the Philadelphia Bar Association. He is former President of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, a frequent lecturer in trial tactics, and is the former Vice-Chair of the Supreme Court Rules Committee. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Trial Advocates. Mr. Foster was selected in a survey of his peers as a Pennsylvania "Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics magazine in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Mr. Foster has been AV rated by the Martindale-Hubbell peer review rating system.
