Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

With regard to my employment law practice, many people who seek my services are facing very difficult situations with their job. Some people are facing termination, harassment or have even been fired. This is a very emotional time for people. Not only am I an attorney for my clients, I am also a counselor. It is important that people know that someone is listening to their issues and trying to help them. If I can make a difference, I will do everything I can to help a client. I am often able to help clients to transition to new job opportunities after they have been unlawfully terminated or facing a work environment that has become increasingly hostile. To that end, during my legal career, I have assisted clients in securing severance packages to help them transition to new positions. I have also secured numerous settlements to help make clients whole after they have been terminated or treated in a discriminatory manner at their job. In one particular matter, I was able to negotiate a six-figure settlement for a client who had been terminated because of his disability. There had been a great deal of stress on the client and his family because he was out of work. This settlement helped the client stabilize his financial situation and allowed him to focus on the next stage of his life.

How did you build a successful practice?

By giving the same level of commitment to all of my clients no matter how big or small the case may be. I try to explain the law to my clients in a straightforward way without a lot of ""lawyer-speak"". I am also very pragmatic and try to give the best advice that I can give to help a client through a difficult situation. I pride myself on the trust that other attorneys place in me when they refer clients to me. I try to place myself in my clients' mindset and treat them as I would expect to be treated if I were facing the same issues.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should look for someone who is responsive and truthful. Most importantly they deserve a lawyer who tells them what they need to hear, not what they want to hear.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

It is always important to have local knowledge to be successful. It is paramount to know the laws. It is equally important to know how particular matters are viewed by judges and juries in different jurisdictions

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

With my experience, I am typically able to determine if a potential client has a case within 5 minutes on the phone. I try to inform potential clients of the laws that they are dealing with. If there is a potential case, I like to meet with the person in my office to discuss the case in more detail. I believe that face-to-face meetings are essential.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

I need the who, what, where, how and when. I typically ask questions to quickly assess the situation.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I have been in practice for nearly 14 years. Employment law is a relatively specialized area of law. I have been practicing employment law my entire career. I don't just dabble in it.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Helping people who have been wronged. Teaching clients what they need to do to protect themselves.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I love spending time with my family and friends. Phillies games. Golf. Reading.

Are you involved in your community?

I coach soccer and baseball teams.
