About Judith
Judith A. Mitnick serves on the Board of the Alzheimer’s Family Day Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving those with dementia and their families. Judy is also a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Arlington Bar Association and its Section on Law & Aging, the Fairfax Bar Association and its Section on Elder Law and Wills, Trusts & Estates, the Northern Virginia Estate Planning Council, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Academy of Special Needs Planners.
Judy works closely with her clients in planning for the future with the goal of maintaining their independence to the maximum extent possible. Judy works with all age groups with varying needs. She has gained extensive experience in the area of guardianships having been appointed to serve as guardian by the Courts and having served as a decision maker in various capacities when asked by her clients. Because of her hands on experience she is acutely aware of the problems which confront guardians, agents, trustees and family members and is able to provide much needed guidance and insight into the needs of persons unable to care for themselves and their caregivers.
Judy is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Law where she was a distinguished member of the Order of the Coif, the legal honorary society, and the managing editor of the Law Review. She is also AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Judy lives in Fairfax County with her Golden Retrievers. She participates in the County’s Pets on Wheels program which brings owners and their pets to local nursing homes.
