About Karen
Ms. Kennedy's practice is concentrated in the areas of civil rights and employment law. Her preparatory education was obtained at Central Arizona College and she was awarded a B.A. with distinction by Arizona State University. She obtained her J.D. degree from Arizona State University in 1978.
Ms. Kennedy is a member of the American Bar Association and is admitted to the Arizona State Bar, the New Mexico State Bar, the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico and United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
She is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC). She is a past Chair of the New Mexico State Bar Section on Employment and Labor Law. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Defense Lawyers Association, has served on the Civil Justice Reform Act Advisory Group and is a past Chair of the New Mexico Minimum Continuing Legal Education Committee. While in law school, Ms. Kennedy placed second in the Nation in the National Moot Court Competition and served as a law clerk to Judge Laurence T. Wren of the Arizona Court of Appeals upon her graduation. She has been a frequent lecturer in management's perspective on current employment law issues, the defense of civil rights claims and federal court rules and procedures. Ms. Kennedy is also an experienced mediator whose services have been requested by both the plaintiff and the defense bar.
Ms. Kennedy has served as an adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law in trial practice and evidence and has taught trial practice for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA) at various regional programs as well as their national session.
