Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I have helped to establish several nonprofit organizations that have raised over $500,000 to help low-income families, refugees and students worthy of scholarships and financial aid. In addition, I have helped organizations that have spent money to revitalize run-down areas of a city. I work exclusively in the nonprofit area, and each organization that I represent or assist has immediately made an impact within the community it serves.
How did you build a successful practice?
I have been successful by gaining expertise and experience and producing results. First, I worked at the IRS and then a global law firm to gain exposure to every type of nonprofit organization. Then, when I left the law firm to start my own practice, I used my previous 10 years of experience to assist other nonprofit organizations - both small and large. Overall, I have represented hundreds and hundreds of organizations with a success rate of 100% - every organization I have represented has qualified for exemption as a 501(c)(3) organization.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
When an individual needs an attorney who can set up a nonprofit organization, the client should look for a lawyer who has the expertise, has the experience, understands the challenges and risks, is willing to communicate with the client, will follow-up with the client to ensure the client remains tax-compliant with the state and federal tax laws.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
It is not very important.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
I can provide an overview of the items needed for an organization to be established and to apply for exemption to qualify as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Name of the organization, the organization\'s mission, board members, officers, address and estimate of financials (income and expenses) over the next 3 years.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
1) I have over 20 years of experience with a success rate of 100% (that is, every organization I have formed has qualified for exemption as a 501(c)(3) organization); 2) I don\'t bill hourly so you can call me or email me whenever you have a question; 3) my fees are very reasonable; 4) you will know the fees from the start and the amount will not change regardless of the amount of work involved.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The organizations that I am representing are going to make an impact on our communities, whether they are local, nationwide or internationally. In addition, the organizations will assist thousands and thousands of families. The area of law where I am working is the one area of law that is truly making a global impact.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I\'m an avid runner and I love 80s music and sports.
Are you involved in your community?
Yes, extremely involved, except for this year (obviously). I\'m always thinking of ways I can make a community impact (since I work with so many different charitable organizations), and always want to donate to so many different organizations.
