Katherine Martell is a founder and principal of the k + m law group located in Falls Church. Katherine has a diversified client base and is an experienced business attorney providing quality legal services at a reasonable price. She assures her clients make informed decisions based on the facts and the law. She organizes the facts and makes the law understandable to her clients so they can make good choices. Cost estimates are given for each major action before it is taken, as Katherine strives for results that make economic sense to her clients. Prior to founding k + m law group, Katherine joined a large international law firm as a member of their Corporate and Finance group, focusing her practice on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and corporate finance transactions. She has experience in such areas as mergers and acquisitions of public and private companies, acquisition financings, and private offerings of debt and equity securities. In addition to regularly counseling clients on a variety of general corporate matters, Katherine also has trial experience in dealing with general business matters such as debt collection and contractual disputes.

Katherine also helps clients with immigration and domestic legal issues. Katherine has experience filing for permanent residence through the alien labor certification process; as well as filing for non-immigrant work visas. Katherine has also helped clients with divorce, custody and support matters.

Katherine served as a Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Fellow and worked in-house at a large internet media company along with in-house counsel to address legal issues and work with the business department to solve problems that arise in the context of employment contracts, copyright, and intellectual property.

Katherine has also has extensive business experience outside of the legal field. Prior to attending law school, Katherine worked for a local single-family, multi-family and mixed use development company as the Operations Manager and was Responsible for due diligence, entitlements, site planning, drafting of all letters of intent and pro-forma's. She was also responsible for locating and negotiating potential land purchases from 5 acres to 1300 acres for the development of single and multi-family residential homes and commercial and mixed use developments throughout the DC Metropolitan area.

Katherine graduated with honors from The George Washington University with a bachelor's degree in International Relations with an emphasis on International Economics. Katherine later attended American University, Washington College of Law where she graduated with honors. While in law school, Katherine participated in the Marshall Brennan Constitutional Literacy program and worked in the law school's Domestic Violence legal clinic, helping low-income families with immigration and family law matters.
