or over 28 years, Mr. Martin has acted as zoning counsel to national and local home builders, shopping center developers, national service stations, fast food operators, banks, self-storage and hotel operators, child care centers, automobile dealers, private schools and churches. He has obtained zoning approvals for over 3000 residential units and over 3 million square feet of commercial, retail and industrial space. As zoning counsel, Mr. Martin has assisted hundreds of clients apply for and obtain zoning entitlements from all of the local governing bodies including Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William Counties and the Cities of Fairfax, Falls Church and Alexandria. He has obtained rezoning, special exception, special use permit, variance and comprehensive plan amendment approvals in all of these jurisdictions. During the zoning process, Mr. Martin negotiates one on one with the local politicians, county planners, zoning administrators and civic groups. Upon successful completion of the zoning process, Mr. Martin is also well versed in drafting deeds of subdivision, dedication and easements in order to obtain subdivision, site plan and building permit approvals. Mr. Martin is a Life Board Member and former president of the Fairfax Chapter of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association. As a life-long resident of McLean, Mr. Martin has dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours to McLean Little League, McLean Mustang Football, McLean Youth Soccer, and CYO Basketball.
