Kurt began his engineering career at General Motors Advanced EngineeringStaff in 1970

Kurt began his engineering career at General Motors Advanced EngineeringStaff in 1970, and in various engineering positions from 1975 to 1987, workingon a variety of advanced projects including engine characterization and controloptimization, vehicle navigation systems, powertrain simulation, tractioncontrol, and active suspension systems, and developing extensive experience insoftware development and data analysis.  While at the University ofMichigan in 1975 he specialized in modern optics and worked on super-resolutionimaging.  Kurt joined Automotive Systems Laboratory at its inception in1987, where he worked as a Director of Safety Systems on the development ofadvanced inflatable occupant restraint systems.  From 1990-1993, Kurtattended West Virginia University, where he invented a toroidal antenna thatbecame the topic of his Ph.D. dissertation.  Before joining with Dinnin& Dunn, Dr. VanVoorhies consulted to Lyon, P.C. prosecuting patents in themechanical, electrical, optical, and software arts.
