About Leeanne

Leeanne Y. Patterson was born in Los Angeles, California in October 1958, and received her early education in Glendale, California. She attended Pacific Union College in the Napa Valley, first receiving her Associate of Science Degree in Nursing and an R.N. in 1978, then going on to complete her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1989. She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Empire College School of Law in Santa Rosa in 1993, and was admitted to the State Bar of California and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California in December 1993. She started at Rogaski, Preovolos, Weber and Patterson, LLP in February 1995, becoming partner in March 2002.

Ms. Patterson began her professional career as an intensive care nurse, but soon moved to the operating room, where she worked for over fifteen years. While she had extensive experience in all surgical procedures, her forte was in cardio-vascular surgery. She made the natural progression to a practice in medical-malpractice defense after earning her law degree. Ms. Patterson has extensive litigation experience and has tried several cases including medical negligence, wrongful death, elder abuse, hospital liability and product liability matters. She also has experience defending health care providers in professional licensing matters, as well as some limited experience in real estate transactions, vineyard leases, construction defect, personal injury and family law.

Ms. Patterson has completed extensive training in Mediation Strategies and Strategic Negotiation Skills through the Straus Institute at Pepperdine University School of Law, and she now offers mediation as well as other alternative dispute resolution services. She concurs with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Warren Burger, where he has said that "[t]he obligation of the legal profession is... to serve as healers of human conflicts... [W]e should provide mechanisms that can produce an acceptable result in the shortest possible time, with the least possible expense and with a minimum of stress on the participants. That is what justice is all about. "

Ms. Patterson was the President for the Sangster Inn of Court in 2007/2008, dedicated to the ethical practice of law. She has volunteered as an instructor in Mock Trial and has been a guest lecturer at Pacific Union College and Empire College of Law.

On a personal level, she has been married for 29 years, has three beautiful grown children, lives on a ranch and raises Bernese Mountain Dogs and Newfoundlands. She volunteers with Hearts In Motion, traveling to Zacapa, Guatemala yearly to work with a humanitarian surgical team repairing cleft lips and cleft palates in children. It is her goal to make a difference in the world.
