About Lesley

Lesley Benn is Of Counsel in the Firm's Commercial Litigation Group, with a distinctive international litigation background and expertise.  She has appeared before federal and state courts throughout the United States and before international and domestic arbitral tribunals under the AAA, ICSID, ICC and UNCITRAL rules.  Ms. Benn has handled numerous complex commercial litigation matters in the United States, including in such sectors as aviation, antitrust, securities, construction, finance, insolvency, and oil and gas.  She also has expertise in international dispute resolution and, in particular, in arbitral disputes between investors and states under bilateral investment treaties and other investment instruments.

Prior to joining Shulman Rogers, Ms. Benn was a member of the litigation and international arbitration group in the Washington, D.C. office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, LLP and a member of the commercial litigation group in the Chicago office of Winston & Strawn, LLP.  A native of Canada, Ms. Benn earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she taught legal research and writing to first year law students.  She received her undergraduate degree in political science and art history from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.  Ms. Benn is a volunteer with Suited for Change, a non-profit organization providing professional clothing and ongoing career education to low-income women.
