About Lindsey

Lindsey grew up in Larimore, North Dakota. He graduated from Larimore High School. He continued his education at the University of North Dakota (UND). His first internship was in North Dakota. His first job after law school was in North Dakota. Lindsey knows North Dakota and Minnesota – the people, the courts and the practice of Criminal Defense.

While at UND, he earned his bachelor’s degree, majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Sociology and Political Science. It was an excellent course of study to prepare him for law school. Upon graduation, Lindsey continued at UND, studying at the UND School of Law. While a law school student, he was a member of the Law Review, Moot Court and the National Association of Criminal Defense. His internship was at a Grand Forks law firm (Larivee & Light, LDH) that focused primarily on cases representing clients charged with criminal offenses.

After graduating from law school, he joined a Grand Forks law firm (Larivee & Light, LDH) as an associate attorney, where he built his criminal defense practice. After a few years, Lindsey moved to Fargo, where he built a solid law firm (Haugen, Moeckel, & Bossart) focused exclusively on Criminal Defense representation. When his partners retired, he joined O’Keeffe O’Brien Lyson Attorneys – where his focus is exclusively criminal defense. Lindsey knows Criminal Defense!

He represents clients charged with misdemeanors, felonies, drug and property crimes, DUI/DWI, and juvenile matters. He’s been defending people in the Red River Valley area for more than 25 years. His experience, knowledge and success equip him to help people navigate the legal system.

Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I was able to negotiate a resolution for a client to have a clean record and not have to register as a predatory offender if he can remain law abiding. This is a huge result for the client!

How did you build a successful practice?

Hard work and word of mouth, along with top-notch communication with clients to keep them up to date on their cases at all times.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Great communication and passion for justice.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Crucial. Knowledge of the judges and prosecutors leads to a better resolution and more efficient means of achieving those good results.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

A basic overview of the case procedure as well as the benefits of having quality representation.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

The location of the offense and prior history of the defendant, as well as a factual explanation of the events.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I pride myself on clear communication and frequent updates to my clients to let them know their case is very important to me.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most rewarding aspect is hearing a grateful client explain how happy they are with the result of their case.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I love to read and I am obsessed with finding good new music (to buy, to stream, and to attend in concert).

Are you involved in your community?

I am a happy member of the local YMCA and several youth-oriented programs with my family.
