Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I was involved in a case where the parties had tried extremely hard to resolve their matter with their previous attorney. They were unable to do so and retained my services. Although there were several issues that were litigated, we were also able to resolve several issues through mediation. Ultimately through the use of both mediation and litigation the case was resolved much quicker with less tension between the parties, and of course substantially less spent on attorney's fees.
How did you build a successful practice?
I believe I built a successful practice based upon limiting my practice to family law only and providing personal attention to my clients.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should look for a lawyer that first of all listens to their needs and responds to those needs, while at the same time is honest with the client as to whether those needs are realistic. Many times an attorney will tell the client what they want to hear and ultimately the client is disappointed. Also, I believe a client should look for a lawyer that limits their practice to a specific area of law rather than practicing in several areas.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
I think local knowledge is important to the cases. A broad view of the issues can ultimately result in a tailored and acceptable result the parties can agree upon.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
In a free consultation, I am able to get the basics of the case and provide the client with how our firm would proceed toward resolution of their matter. The client can also get a feel for whether they will want to work with me. A rapport is imperative.

In a consultation, I like to get an overview of the main issues in the case and the dynamics between the parties.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I believe my personal attention to the case of each client is invaluable. Many attorneys promise personal service, but for many attorneys that is a difficult promise to keep.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of my job is a client that is happy with the result at the conclusion of my representation, and that client wants to refer me to other potential clients.
