About Lonita
My name is Lonita R. Walker-Mede, and I have been nominated to serve as Bar Commissioner to the Alabama State Bar for Place 1 of the 10th Judicial Circuit. I would be honored as a member of this Circuit to serve as Commissioner and I appreciate members considering voting for me.
My background began at Miles Law School. I graduated cum laude, and was active in the Student Government as a Law School Representative. I graduated May 13, 2006, and I was sworn in to practice law on September 29, 2006.
After passing the bar, I started the law firm of Mede & Mede, Attorneys At Law along with Pierre A. Mede, my husband. At my firm, I practice criminal defense and other civil litigation as a general practitioner. I have had the opportunity to represent indigent defendants, litigate consumer issues and fight for constitutional rights.
Additionally, I have had the opportunity to work as a Director for the non-profit organization, Legal Advocacy of Alabama, restoring stability to impoverished neighborhoods in Jefferson County through readiness programs and educational resources.
My husband, Pierre is no longer a member of the firm. However, he has had the opportunity to represent numerous indigent defendants as a Trial Attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Birmingham.
We have two children, Olivia Mede (age 4) and Miranda Mede (21 mths.)
