Emily was born and raised in Miller City, Ohio, where she graduated from High School in 2019. Emily attended the University of Toledo, where she earned her degree in Paralegal Studies. Emily then attended the University of Toledo College of Law. During law school, Emily was a part of the Public Interest Law Association, where she served as Co-President. While attending school full-time, she began to work at Boyk Law as a law clerk. In addition to her Law School and Boyk Law commitments, she was an associate member of the University of Toledo’s Law Review. Emily earned her Juris Doctorate in May 2025 and later passed the July 2025 Ohio Bar Exam. As a law clerk at Boyk Law, Emily played a role in assisting both attorneys and paralegals with various aspects of case preparation and management. Now, as a full-time attorney with the firm, she draws upon that experience in handling her own personal injury cases. Emily also contributes to the mass tort cases for Boyk Law, where she speaks with clients and supervises some of the litigation and settlement programs. Thomas Schaffer first worked at age twelve for his father’s farm and grain elevator. Coming from a large family, he saw how working families can struggle to make ends meet early on. At a young age, he learned the value of hard work, dedication, and commitment to family. Attorney Thomas Schaffer was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1990. Thomas graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1984 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Economics, from Bowling Green State University in 1986 with a Master’s degree in Economics, and from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1990 with his J.D. degree. Tom has over thirty years of experience representing injured and disabled people as an attorney in Northwest Ohio. He enjoys participating in TBA’s workers’ compensation section meetings as well as presenting at multiple seminars. With the Zepf Center, he assisted in efforts to provide behavioral health and vocational services to youth and adults with severe and persistent mental illness in Lucas County.

Attorney Marilyn Levine was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 2001. Marilyn attended Ohio State University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Labor and Human Resources. Marilyn received her law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law, where she graduated summa cum laude. Marilyn is a past President Board of Directors for Leading Families Home and Beach House Family Shelter. She is a member of the Toledo Bar Association, the Ohio Association for Justice, and the Ohio Bar Association, and is on the Advisory Board of the University of Toledo Paralegal Studies Program.
