Notable Work
Plaintiff: Attorney for the plaintiff, Mary Nixon. The plaintiff filed suit against Alice Melinda Vaughn, Born Reeves, Fidelity Investments Institutional Operations Company, and CITGO Petroleum. The plaintiff alleges that the defendant, her biological sister, fraudulently converted funds that the plaintiff was entitled to as a beneficiary. She also alleges that CITGO and Fidelity were negligent in their failure to inform her of Vaughn's actions. The defendants filed a motion to dismiss. Upon review of the case the court found that it did not have subject matter jurisdiction of the case. It was therefore decided that the defendant's motion for dismissal be denied. The case was remanded to the state court for further proceeding.
Attorney for the Appellant in an Appeals case in which said Appellant in a case regarding child support. The mother (Appellant) Appealed a decreased interim support amount for child support that was made retroactive to the date of the filing of the original petition. Said Appellant appealed both rulings, as well as the district court's deviation from the child support guidelines to account for time spent by the father with the child. The Court affirmed.
