He was raised in Crowley and graduated from Crowley High School in 1972.Steve Attended LSU-E and LSU Baton Rouge, earning a Batchelor of Science degree in 1976.Steve thereafter attended LSU Law Center earning his Juris Doctorate in 1980. He was admitted to the bar in 1980, and became a law clerk on the Central Staff of the Third Circuit Court of Appeal in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He has been in private practice since 1981 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Steve is admitted to the Louisiana and Southwest Louisiana Bar Associations and admitted in all Louisiana State Courts as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana. Steve was a member of the Calcasieu Parish Notarial Examination Committee of the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association, 1987-1989;He is a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Parish; He served on the board of directors of the Queen of Heaven Elementary School’s trust fund from 1987 to 1997, being chairman from 1991 to 1997. NIXON V. VAUGHN

Plaintiff: Attorney for the plaintiff, Mary Nixon. The plaintiff filed suit against Alice Melinda Vaughn, Born Reeves, Fidelity Investments Institutional Operations Company, and CITGO Petroleum. The plaintiff alleges that the defendant, her biological sister, fraudulently converted funds that the plaintiff was entitled to as a beneficiary. She also alleges that CITGO and Fidelity were negligent in their failure to inform her of Vaughn's actions. The defendants filed a motion to dismiss. Upon review of the case the court found that it did not have subject matter jurisdiction of the case. It was therefore decided that the defendant's motion for dismissal be denied. The case was remanded to the state court for further proceeding.

MURPHY v MURPHY

Attorney for the Appellant in an Appeals case in which said Appellant in a case regarding child support. The mother (Appellant) Appealed a decreased interim support amount for child support that was made retroactive to the date of the filing of the original petition. Said Appellant appealed both rulings, as well as the district court's deviation from the child support guidelines to account for time spent by the father with the child. The Court affirmed.
