Albert J. Dib is a native Detroiter, and a 1980 graduate of Wayne State University Law School. He has taught Medical Malpractice, Litigation Skills, Pretrial Advocacy, and Health Law at both Wayne State University Law School and University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where he has been Adjunct Professor of Law. He is past-president of the Wayne State University Law School Alumni Association, and currently a member of the WSU Law School’s Board of Visitors. He authored the ANNUAL SURVEY OF MICHIGAN LAW, “Medical Malpractice,” 2005 – 2006 in The Wayne Law Review, and “Ethical Conduct and Effective Lawyering, Plaintiff’s Perspective,” presented at the 26th Annual Law Seminar, Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Dib focuses his practice in medical and professional negligence, including the highly specialized field of catastrophically injured children and Birth Trauma/Obstetrical Malpractice Litigation. He also serves as a special medical malpractice mediator. In addition, Mr. Dib has also taught at Central Michigan University (Legal Aspects of Health Service Organizations) and has been an invited lecturer at the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (Deposition Conduct and Objections) and the Michigan Association for Justice (Malpractice Tort Reform). Mr. Dib served on the State Bar of Michigan Grievance Committee and the District I Character and Fitness Committee. He has been an instructor for the American Association for Justice and Michigan Association for Justice at the University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law trial advocacy workshop symposium and a moot court judge at Wayne State University Law School (Arthur Neef Competition); University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law (State of Michigan and Gallagher Competitions); and Michigan State University College of Law. Arthur (Art) A. Garton handles all matters of complex criminal law, family law, personal injury and business/civil litigation. He is one of two Macomb County attorneys who completed the National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute. He regularly attends the Defense of Drunk Driving Seminars sponsored by the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has also attended national seminars on Defending Allegations of Sexual Abuse.Mr. Garton is a graduate of Detroit College of Law and has practiced in the State of Michigan for over twenty years. He received his B.A. from the American International College in 1974 and his M.A. from Central Michigan University in 1978. He also served in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1975.Mr. Garton is a member of the State Bar of Michigan where he has served on the Character and Fitness Committee. He is currently president of the Macomb County Bar Association. He is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Association of Trial Lawyers and the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association.Mr. Garton received recognition as a Super Lawyer in 2007 and 2008. John has dedicated over 30 years, to serving the needs of personal injury clients in Michigan, and across the country. Some of his resilience may have come from playing Big Ten Football for coaching legend Duffy Daugherty at Michigan State University, where he was also a Rhode Scholar Candidate. He then went on to the University of Notre Dame Law School and passed the Michigan bar exam and hung out his shingle as a Personal Injury Sole Practitioner, a first for Livingston County Michigan. He is licensed in both State and Federal Court in Michigan and is a member of the Bar in California. Mr. Schalter views Personal Injury Law as his life calling. His father experienced a massive heart attack and stroke due to carbon monoxide poisoning at his job. For 11 years John’s father, once a healthy man, sat in a wheelchair watching his family suffer and feeling constant confusion and despair.
