About Mario
Mario DiNatale
In Memoriam (1954 2009)
Mario DiNatale joined Silver Golub & Teitell in 1993, and became a partner in 1997. His practice focuses on representing individuals in significant cases involving medical malpractice, construction accidents and other accidents involving serious injuries. He also represents individuals and businesses in commercial litigation and other business disputes. Mr. DiNatale was recently selected as a Connecticut Super Lawyer in the field of plaintiffs' General Personal Injury Litigation by Law & Politics Magazine.
Mr. DiNatale is an accomplished trial lawyer who has achieved numerous successful results for his clients, including several jury verdicts in excess of $1 million. He has also successfully settled many cases short of trial. His settlements include $3,150,000 for two persons injured in a boating accident, and $6,130,000 for a man who suffered severe burns and other injuries in a propane gas explosion and fire. In one medical malpractice case, the jury awarded $2,300,000 to a young girl represented by Mr. DiNatale who had a heart defect that was not properly diagnosed or treated. In another case, he obtained a jury award of $2,050,000 for a 73 year-old man who was struck by a motor vehicle in a hit-and-run accident. More recently, he won a jury verdict of $1,190,000 in a case in which he represented a woman who sustained traumatic brain injury, including the loss of the senses of smell and taste, in a motor vehicle accident. He also attained a jury award of $1,050,000 for a young man injured in a construction accident.
Mr. DiNatale began his legal career in 1979 as an Assistant District Attorney in New York County, and was assigned to two specialized units, the Sex Crimes Prosecution Unit, and the Juvenile Crime Unit, while also assigned to one of six general trial bureaus. He was also in the first group in his class to be assigned to the Homicide and Major Felony Duty Chart. In all, he tried over forty cases to verdict, including homicides, rapes, arsons, and armed robberies.
In 1984, Mr. DiNatale became a Special Attorney with the United States Department of Justice, assigned to the Organized Crime Strike Force in Brooklyn, New York. He successfully prosecuted organized crime figures, labor union leaders, and businessmen in several cases that emanated from an investigation into labor corruption and extortion practices in the airfreight industry at JFK International Airport. He also worked with members of a joint FBI- NYPD Task Force investigating the window replacement industry. The investigation ultimately led to the convictions of high-ranking members of four of the five organized crime families in New York, including Vincent "Chin" Gigante.
In 1989, Mr. DiNatale joined the litigation department of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle in New York City, where he worked on cases involving complex commercial litigation. He achieved many successful results for the firm's clients, both in and out of court.
Mario DiNatale graduated from Regis High School in 1972. He obtained his BA from Columbia University in 1976, and his law degree from New York University in 1979. He is active in the Connecticut legal community, serving as vice-president of the Fairfield County Bar Association, and lecturing before that group, and for the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of both Connecticut and New York, the federal district courts in Connecticut and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the federal appellate courts for the Second and Third Circuits.
Mr. DiNatale lives in Riverside, Connecticut, with his wife and two children. He has been active in his community. He served for two years as the president of a local neighborhood association, and has been a panelist on several occasions on matters of law. He has also coached a variety of youth sports.
