Legal fees will vary depending upon the subject matter of a case. However, a general guide for legal fees is as follows: Initial Consultation: Free Personal Injury Matters: These matters are primarily handled on a contingency fee basis on behalf of a potential Plaintiff. Workers' Compensation Matters: Legal fees vary. However, these matters are generally paid for by the employer and/or the employer's Workers' Compensation Insurance carrier. In some cases, the legal fee may be a percentage of the compensation attained. Other Matters: All other matters are billed on an hourly rate, or as a flat fixed fee. The amount of the hourly charge or flat fee is determined on a case-by-case basis. NOTE: An agreement as to the charge for legal fees will always be discussed with the client prior to representing that client. COSTS: Depending upon the nature of a case, there may be costs involved. Costs include: filing fees, deposition costs, costs to obtain medical records, summons and subpoena fees, and the like. Costs are separate and apart from legal fees.
