How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is extremely important to obtaining successful results. I have practiced in this community for 26 years and, as a result, I have developed a wealth of experience in southwest Washington. A substantial advantage is gained by knowing the local court rules (both written and unwritten), the local judges, and opposing counsel.

When contacting our office with a potential personal injury claim you should be prepared to provide the date and location of the incident, the identities of other individuals involved, and the names of any relevant insurance carriers.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I have practiced law in this community for 26 years and have practiced almost exclusively in the area of personal injury law. I am the senior shareholder of Walstead Mertsching PS, the largest and oldest law firm in Cowlitz County, having been founded in 1925.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I am an avid runner. I have competed in thirteen Hood to Coast Relays, nine marathons, and numerous half marathons.
