About Martha

Mrs. Akers has been practicing in Parker County and surrounding counties for more than 20 years.  She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester and her law degree from the University of Houston. She is also qualified as a family law mediator.  When she first moved to Parker County, she served as an assistant county attorney for five years.  Mrs. Akers now concentrates her practice in the area of family law and family law mediation.  She has represented clients in hundreds of cases involving contested and uncontested divorces, property division, contempt, protective orders, child support, child visitation, child custody, adoption, paternity, grandparent rights and name changes. Mrs. Akers is frequently appointed by the courts as a mediator in family law matters.  From the simplest to the most complex matters, Mrs. Akers represents her clients in a professional manner. 
 
Mrs. Akers is very active in the community.  She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, Parker County Bar Association (past president), Rotary Club (former member), Zonta International Women's Club, Weatherford Chamber of Commerce and Eastern Parker County Chamber of Commerce.  She is a former member of the City of Weatherford Board of Adjustments, is on the board  of the Weatherford Performing Arts Association and is a former Board Member of Bush Women Republican Women.
