Martin A. Newmark is a real estate and commercial litigation specialist and a land use expert. Mr. Newmark started practicing law with his father, I. Ezra Newmark, and has remained an attorney in Morristown, New Jersey throughout his career.

He represents clients involved in the purchase and sale of residential, commercial and industrial properties. He also frequently appears on behalf of clients before municipal zoning and planning boards in variance and site plan/subdivision projects, particularly in Morris County. He has obtained approvals for numerous high profile projects in and around Morristown.

Additionally, Mr. Newmark represents buyers, sellers, and real estate brokers in litigation arising out of real estate transactions and has established an enviable record of success in representing clients in these cases. He was the trial attorney in Gennari v. Weichert Realtors, 148 N.J. 582 (1997), one of the leading cases in New Jersey discussing the liability of real estate brokers under the Consumer Fraud Act. He, together with Mr. Baldwin, handled the appeal of that case through the Appellate Division to the New Jersey Supreme Court. Other significant cases that he has argued before the New Jersey Supreme Court include Teller v. Major Sales Inc., 64 N.J. 143 (1974), State v. Talbot, 71 N.J. 160 (1976), In re Bock, 128 N.J. 270 (1992) and Weichert v. Ryan, 128 N.J. 427 (1992). He has been called upon to testify as an expert witness by other lawyers in the real estate field and has served as an instructor in legal skills and methods courses sponsored by the Institute for Continuing Legal Education.

As a result of his expertise in the real estate arena he has also represented clients in corporate financing, loan documentation, corporate transactions and in commercial land use litigation.

Mr. Newmark is a native of Morristown and lives with his family in Mendham, New Jersey. He received his undergraduate degree from Lafayette College and his law degree from New York University. He is an active member of the Morris County Bar Association and a past president of that organization. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He served as chairman of the District X Fee Arbitration Committee.
