About Martin
Martin Shellist is a founding partner of Shellist, Lore & Lazarz, Ltd. Mr. Shellist handles labor and employment and serious injury cases in state and federal courts in Texas and around the country. He primarily represents employees and has won many employment trials against private corporations, as well as public entities, including, the City of Houston, San Jacinto County, Montgomery County, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service. In fact, in 2003, he and partner Michael Lore obtained a $1.3 million whistleblower verdict against the City of Houston which is believed to be the largest such verdict against the City of Houston to date.
In addition to handling cases at trial, Mr. Shellist regularly negotiates settlement and severance agreements for clients, negotiates employment contracts for executives, and counsels individuals needing guidance on every aspect of their potential, current, or past employment. Martin Shellist and the team at Shellist, Lore & Lazarz, Ltd. have a broad range of experience handling employment-related issues and bring to any dispute a sense of trust, integrity, and a solid reputation of success.
Mr. Shellist is a past President and Vice President of the Houston Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association and a member of the Houston Bar Association Labor and Employment Division, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the State Bar of Texas Labor and Employment Division. He is also a Fellow of the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation.
Mr. Shellist regularly speaks at continuing legal education courses and human resource seminars. He also acts as a consultant to local and regional companies on labor and employment related matters. Mr. Shellist is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where he received both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. He earned his law degree in Houston, Texas from South Texas College of Law in 1993.
