He primarily represents employees and has won many employment trials against private corporations, as well as public entities, including, the City of Houston, San Jacinto County, Montgomery County, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service. In fact, in 2003, he and partner Michael Lore obtained a $1.3 million whistleblower verdict against the City of Houston which is believed to be the largest such verdict against the City of Houston to date.

In addition to handling cases at trial, Mr. Shellist regularly negotiates settlement and severance agreements for clients, negotiates employment contracts for executives, and counsels individuals needing guidance on every aspect of their potential, current, or past employment. He is also a Fellow of the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation.

Mr. Shellist is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where he received both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. He earned his law degree in Houston, Texas from South Texas College of Law in 1993.
