About Mary
Ms. Dixon has been an associate in the Firm's Appellate Practice Group since 2002. As a member of that group, Ms. Dixon is routinely engaged in complex litigation matters which involve significant exposure to clients or which present novel questions of law. In addition to handling complex briefing at the trial court level, Ms. Dixon has litigated appeals at every level of the Pennsylvania appellate courts, including arguing before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and she has also handled appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits.
Ms. Dixon is frequently asked to write articles on recent developments in the law, and she has written on such wide-ranging issues as the preemptive force of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) to the doctrine of informed consent in medical malpractice litigation. Ms. Dixon's publications include: White and Williams LLP News Alert, New Pennsylvania Federal Court Decision Rejects Rosenbaum (September 2002); White and Williams LLP News Alert, Pennsylvania Federal Court Holds Bad Faith Claims Preempted By ERISA Under New Supreme Court Test (May 2003); White and Williams Executive Newsletter, Summer 2002, Informed Consent in Medical Malpractice Litigation; and White and Williams Executive Newsletter, Summer 2004, Mandatory Reporting for Physician-Defendants.
Ms. Dixon has presented several Continuing Legal Education seminars on appellate practice and procedure in the Pennsylvania courts. She is also an invited lecturer at Temple University's Beasley School of Law, where she presents an annual lecture on appellate practice to upper-level law students. Ms. Dixon is a past secretary of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Appellate Courts Committee, and she currently serves as Co-Chair of the Publicity/Newsletter Committee of the Third Circuit Bar Association.
Ms. Dixon received her B.A. from Appalachian State University in 1991 and a M.C.J. from the University of South Carolina in 1994. Ms. Dixon received her J.D., cum laude, from Temple University School of Law in 2000. While at Temple, Ms. Dixon was a staff member of the Temple Law Review and was the recipient of the Barrister's Award for Outstanding Oral Advocacy and the Horace G. Brown Scholars-in-Law Scholarship.
