Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

In this case my client was imploded as a third party defendant. Their role was shipping plastic material to Taiwan before its ban. The container was claimed not to have returned back on time to the shipping line. Claiming about $270,000.00 in demurrage and per diem. We manage to settle this case before trial by having the plaintiff dropping the case against our client. The main reason was lack of evidence to substantiate a claim against my client, and the plaintiff was running a serious risk of summary judgment if they continued.

How did you build a successful practice?

Certainly! Here’s a tailored version of the text for Jahani Law: I started from the ground up and built my practice step by step. The first requirement was passing the Bar, which presented me with a choice: seek employment at an established firm or take the risk of opening my own. I chose the latter and founded Jahani Law. Although my background wasn’t initially rooted in law, my previous experience provided valuable skills and resilience that became indispensable when building my practice. My understanding of maritime industries gave me an edge in maritime law; I spoke the language of shipping and could navigate its complexities with confidence. Expanding into civil litigation and immigration law required a steep learning curve, but perseverance and a commitment to understanding the frameworks built by those before me helped me succeed. The wheel is already invented—we just need to study it and refine it. At Jahani Law, I’ve worked hard to turn challenges into opportunities and create a firm that reflects my passion for advocacy and expertise in multiple legal disciplines.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most rewarding aspect of my job at Jahani Law is knowing that the work we do has a direct and meaningful impact on our clients’ lives. Whether it’s navigating the complexities of maritime law, resolving disputes through civil litigation, or helping individuals and families secure a future through immigration law, each case offers an opportunity to make a difference. I take pride in being an advocate during some of the most challenging moments in my clients’ lives—whether it’s protecting their rights, finding practical solutions, or giving them a voice in complex legal matters. Seeing clients achieve their goals or gain peace of mind is incredibly fulfilling. Additionally, the intellectual challenge of mastering diverse areas of law keeps the work dynamic and engaging. Every case is unique, requiring strategy, creativity, and resilience—qualities that have shaped both me and the practice. At Jahani Law, it’s about more than just legal success; it’s about building trust, empowering clients, and delivering meaningful results.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I am an advocate and a passionate sailor, always seeking opportunities to be on the water. Sailing offers me a unique sense of peace and quiet while embracing the challenge of the wind and sail—a balance that is both deeply satisfying and rejuvenating. Beyond my time on the water, I have a love for music and enjoy playing instruments. I play the Santoor, which is a string Persian instrument, and the Daf, a traditional percussion instrument, they allow me to connect with rhythm and creativity in a meaningful way.

Are you involved in your community?

Yes, I take part in information session conferences
