About Matthew
Upon graduation from American University’s Washington College of Law, Matthew practiced with such distinguished regional firms as Davies, Barrell, Will, Lewellyn, and Edwards PLC, and Price Benowtiz, LLP. In 2015 and 2016 Matthew was distinguished as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in the United States. In 2017 Matthew was recruited by the prestigious criminal defense firm, Robinson Law, PLLC, in Fairfax, Virginia, to act as the firm’s managing partner. Under Matthew’s oversight at Robinson Law, the firm’s criminal practice became one of the most successful and well-respected criminal defense firms in Northern Virginia.
In 2020, Matthew and Seth Peritz, also previously an attorney at Robinson Law, opened their own criminal and traffic law practice, Crowley Peritz PLLC, in Fairfax, Virginia. Matthew and Seth’s continued alliance allows them to provide highly focused representation to their clients, as well as outstanding customer service. Matthew and Seth often work cases in tandem, which brings a synergy to their practice where the sum is greater than the parts.
Matthew’s substantial legal experience, his professional demeanor, and his involved and detailed approach in every case make him a great option for anyone charged with a criminal offense. Matthew is peer-reviewed on Martindale Hubble, and holds a 10.0/10.0 rating on Avvo. Matthew has received Avvo’s Client Choice Award from Avvo every year from 2015 through the present. Matthew has successfully tried as well as settled hundreds of criminal and traffic cases, at all levels of Virginia’s trial courts. Matthew has also trained and mentored dozens of young attorneys throughout his career, including having both recruited and mentored his current partner, Seth Peritz.

Questions & Answers
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
1. Experience 2. Good reviews 3. Responsiveness and personal comfort level.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is critically important in criminal and serious traffic cases. Understanding the personalities of the various prosecutors and judges can be the difference between a successful and unsuccessful strategy.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
In my phone consultations I am going to give you a full consultation. That means I'm going to learn as much as I can about your case, tell you exactly what I think about it, what else we still need to find out and begin right then to make a plan. My clients walk away from the first conversation having a very strong idea of the range of things they can expect to happen in their case, and knowing exactly what I can do for them.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
I will need to know everything you can tell me about your current charges, any past convictions you have, any evidence we might get such as witnesses, documents, video, etc. Perhaps most importantly be ready to talk about yourself. Tailoring your representation to your life situation is extremely important.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Taking a person from a first conversation where they are worried and anxious and uncertain about their future through to an end result where they are able to keep their life on track or get it back on track.
