Matthew Sakkas is an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer who has litigated cases throughout
Mr. Sakkas has proven to be adept at prosecuting cases, obtaining substantial verdicts in cases involving defective elevators, insurance fraud, construction accidents, automobile accidents, bicycle accidents and premises liability cases.
He recently obtained a settlement of $1.5 million in a medical malpractice case for a failure to diagnose a spinal epidural abscess and a $950,000 settlement in a negligent security case, represented the estate of a woman who was murdered by an ex-boyfriend.
As a compliment to his skills as a prosecutor, Mr. Sakkas has also defended his clients in major lawsuits and has had a remarkable string of successes briefing and arguing cases before New York's Appellate Courts, where he has had numerous reported decisions.
Mr. Sakkas, a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, participated in the Trial Lawyers Care initiative, representing, pro bono, one of the victim's families from the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. He obtained a multimillion dollar award for the family.
