George Skelly is a member of Singleton Schreiber’s Personal Injury and Wrongful Death practice group, representing individuals and families throughout New Mexico who have suffered due to the wrongful actions of others. He has successfully handled cases involving automobile accidents, dog bites, slip-and-fall injuries, and other personal injury matters. With a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for his clients, George is dedicated to helping those facing the aftermath of catastrophic injuries or motor vehicle collisions. Early in his career, Mr. Skelly distinguished himself as a passionate advocate for injured clients. Before joining Singleton Schreiber, he began his legal journey in family law, where he worked to reunite families through the adoption process. This background provided him with a deep understanding of the personal challenges families face, which he now applies to his personal injury cases. Mr. Skelly is actively involved in his community and serves as a volunteer with New Mexico Christian Legal Aid, where he assists those in need of legal guidance. He is also a member of the Albuquerque Bar Association, the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association, and the Family Law Section of the New Mexico State Bar. Mr. Skelly earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he received the CALI Excellence Award in Legal Writing. Michael Duran is Partner at the Albuquerque office of Singleton Schreiber, where he brings over two decades of extensive litigation experience to the firm’s Personal Injury practice group. Mr. Duran is a lifelong New Mexican and has strong ties to northern New Mexico where his family can be traced back for several generations. His comprehensive background in handling personal injury cases at both state and federal levels includes automobile collisions, trucking accidents, premises liability, and motorcycle collisions. Before joining Singleton Schreiber, Mr. Duran served as the Managing Litigation Attorney at a prominent plaintiff law firm in Albuquerque for more than 17 years. In this role, he managed attorneys across the firm, filed and litigated numerous cases in New Mexico up and through trial. In that time, Mr. Duran took over a dozen cases to trial and verdict. His responsibilities also included supervising support staff and participating in extensive litigation activities. Earlier in his career, Mr. Duran served as an Insurance Defense Litigation Attorney at Stiff & Associates, Miller Stratvert LLP, and Houliston and Associates in Albuquerque, NM. In these positions, he litigated a wide range of insurance cases, maintaining a substantial caseload and fulfilling extensive litigation responsibilities including discovery, depositions, motions practice, and mediations. Mr. Duran earned his Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law, where he made the Dean’s List and received a Certificate in Basic Mediation. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management and Information Systems from the University of Phoenix. An active member of several prestigious legal associations, Mr. Duran serves on the Board of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers and is a member of the National Trial Lawyers, the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys, the American Association for Justice, and the National Hispanic Bar Association. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Mr. Duran leverages his language skills to effectively communicate and advocate for a diverse range of clients. Outside of his legal practice, Michael enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, cooking, eating, and traveling. He and his wife, Laura, are blessed with a blended family of six adult children, their spouses, and grandchildren.

His tenure was marked by fearless oversight, bipartisan accountability, and systemic improvements in government transparency. A lifelong New Mexican raised in Valencia County, Mr. Colón was the first in his family to earn a college degree, graduating with a B.S. in Finance from New Mexico State University and later earning his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner. Mr. Colón is recognized statewide for his robust civic engagement, mentorship of emerging leaders, and fundraising expertise. A compelling keynote speaker and advocate for equity, Mr. Colón brings his personal story and lived experience to every endeavor, including his advocacy for those with disabilities. His commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession has been evident throughout his career. Mr. Colón is a longtime member and board director of the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association (NMHBA), a board of trustee member for the Albuquerque Community Foundation (ACF) and the New Mexico Community Trust (NMCT), and founder and co-chair of the UNM/NMHBA Law Camp, which has empowered aspiring New Mexico attorneys since 2003. He has served on NM Judicial Selection Commissions, the State Bar of New Mexico’s Committee on Diversity, and other initiatives to expand opportunity and representation in the legal system. Nationally, he serves as First Vice President and is a Lifetime Member of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), supporting Latino leadership across the country, as well as a NAACP Silver Life Member.

Jacob Payne is a senior counsel in our New Mexico offices and a member of both our Fire Litigation and our Personal Injury and Wrongful Death practice groups.
