About Melissa
Melissa H. Lum acts as general counsel to small and mid-size businesses. Her passion lies in helping businesses flourish through strategic business planning and risk management. As both a litigator and transactional attorney, she offers a variety of services which uniquely enable her to counsel clients through the entire life-cycle of their business.
At the startup level, Ms. Lum works with clients to build a solid legal foundation through business structuring, drafting and negotiating contracts (i.e. buy-sell agreements, commercial leases, informed consents, service agreements, employment agreements, etc.), and advising clients regarding HIPAA compliance, wage and hour, as well as harassment and discrimination laws.
As her clients’ businesses mature, she is also there to provide guidance and support. Ms. Lum provides strategic advice and services for businesses that are seeking investors, looking to acquire or sell a business, or wind down.
She is also equipped to handle legal disputes. At some point during their life-cycle, most businesses will face a wage and hour claim, sexual harassment or discrimination claim, shareholder dispute, or contract dispute. When this occurs, Ms. Lum zealously prosecutes or defends these actions.
