Jay is a native South Floridian born and raised in Miami and a full-time practicing attorney since 1983. Jay is married with 3 children and resides in Weston, Florida. After graduating early from the University of Florida in 1989 , he went on to obtain his law degree, in only 2 1/2 years from St. Thomas University School of Law in 1992. Jay just could not wait to begin his law career. While in law school, Jay clerked for his father Franklin D. Jay then went on to become a Certified Legal Intern with the Miami - Dade County State Attorneyโs Office where he worked up files daily on all sorts of crimes such as D.U.I., driving while license suspended, assault and battery, and all types of misdemeanor criminal offenses. Jay was involved with preparing cases for trial and resolving cases with defendants and their attorneys. After a period of time, Jay began handling all types of Civil and Criminal litigation matters on his own in his own practice. After approximately 5 years, Jay began sharing office space with his father Franklin D. Kreutzer and for the last 25 years, they have been working together on many cases. In addition to handling his regular caseload, Jay has been appointed by various Judges as Guardian ad Litem, Administrator Ad Litem, and Attorney Ad Litem in various Guardianship and Foreclosure cases over the years. Over the years Jay has enjoyed coaching all of his children in their various athletic competitions. Jay currently has a daughter who is a real estate attorney in New York City, a son who is an independent videographer in the surfing industry, and a son in college at Florida State University studying to become a Music Therapist. An avid traveler and former NCAA football scholarship athlete, Shawn Hairston came to Miami to launch his legal career โ and brought two educations with him: the discipline of the football field, and a Capitol Hill staffer's understanding of how power actually moves. As a former defense attorney, he brings firsthand knowledge from the other side of the courtroom. That experience shapes how he defends: he knows how cases are built, because he has built them โ and he knows where they come apart. Today his private practice runs through Lawyer With Locs: criminal defense in Washington, D.C. and Florida, and NIL and agent advisory work for athletes who are living the scholarship life he once lived. The Capitol Hill years still inform how he reads power, process, and leverage in every room he walks into. The locs are not a costume, and neither is the advocacy. It is the same person in every room: prepared, direct, and on your side.
