About Michael

Michael Badagliacca was born in Suffern, New York in 1972. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University in 1993, and a Juris Doctor cum laude from Pepperdine University in 1996, where he was Associate Editor for the Law Review. Mr. Badagliacca is admitted to practice in New York and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Prior to working at Staas & Halsey LLP, Mr. Badagliacca worked for a major aerospace corporation, as well as the Department of the Navy, Naval Air Systems Command. At these prior positions, he prepared and prosecuted patent applications, as well as performing prior art searches and advising general attorneys on intellectual property matters. He also worked at the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a trademark examining attorney.

At Staas & Halsey LLP, Mr. Badagliacca has prepared and prosecuted a large volume of patent applications, as well as drafting patentability, infringement and validity opinions in the computer, electronic, electromechanical and mechanical technologies. Relevant technologies include computer network systems, image compression, robotics, disc drives, fiber-optics, printers and home appliances.

While at Staas & Halsey LLP, Mr. Badagliacca has also prosecuted trademark applications and drafted opinions related to trademark infringement, trade dress and unfair competition.
