Please describe a case(s) in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
A woman came to us from Marshall, MN after being hit as a pedestrian by a truck backing out of a parking stall. The insurance company wanted to blame her for the accident even though the pickup driver admitted never seeing her as he backed out. We refused to even respond to their offer to settle for ½ of the policy limit. Because they knew we were prepared to go to trial if necessary, they agreed to pay the policy limit before trial. The client was very pleased. We don’t allow insurance companies to push our clients around and guide them to make the best decision for their case.

How did you build a successful practice?
By making our clients feel that we are looking out for them, by being easy to reach, by not shoving their case off to a paralegal by responding quickly to their calls and emails and efficiently handling their case from start to finish.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?
See above. In addition, the lawyer they choose should not work for a firm that also defends insurance companies. That lawyer is in the business of denying fair compensation to their friends and neighbors.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
That is of minimal importance.

We can get the person up to speed on the no-fault insurance issues and basic knowledge that they will need to keep from getting taken advantage of by the insurance companies.

A brief description of the incident and their injuries.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Many of the lawyers who advertise for personal injury cases actual spend much of their time also representing insurance companies denying claims often unfairly.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Helping clients get back on their feet after a bad collision or injury. We take away the worry if we can and allow them to concentrate on their injuries.

What are your other interests in addition to law?
I majored in biology and medical technology. These areas of study are of great assistance in my work and I enjoy staying informed in those topics of knowledge.

Are you involved in your community?
I enjoy the Elks Club and their contributions to the youth groups in the area. I also volunteer to act as judge for local Mock Trial High School competitions.
