About Michael
Michael J. Barnaby has more than twenty-five years experience in the construction industry as a construction attorney and in the field. As such, Mr. Barnaby focuses almost exclusively on construction related matters. He has litigated, arbitrated, and mediated numerous complex construction disputes. As a former partner with two New York based construction law firms, Mr. Barnaby has represented and continues to represent numerous construction industry participants in New York and Connecticut. Mr. Barnaby has considerable experience on various construction related issues including mechanic's liens, arbitration, contract disputes, surety law, contract preparation, public contracting, bid protests, architect and engineer liability, prevailing wage and labor law issues, payment and performance bond claims, and construction claims.
As a former construction superintendent for an internationally recognized construction manager, Mr. Barnaby has first-hand experience on commercial construction projects valued to $200,000,000, including high-rise construction, concrete superstructure work, office buildings and hotels, renovation work, and environmental remediation work. Mr. Barnaby is an arbitrator with the Construction Industry Panel of the American Arbitration Association and he has served as an arbitrator on numerous complex construction industry disputes.
Mr. Barnaby is a graduate of Lehigh University and he received his law degree, together with a Certificate in Environmental Law, from Pace University of Law.
