About Michael

Michael A. Pizzi, jr. has over 14 years experience in the federal courts system. He was previously employed as a United States Probation Officer in the Eastern District of New York and Southern District of Florida. During this period of time, he developed expertise in bail, sentencing, substance abuse treatment, and all facets of probation, parole and supervised release proceedings. During his time at the United States Probation Office, Mr. Pizzi developed innovative techniques in the areas of supervision, including new techniques for dealing with sophisticated offenders, as well as new treatment techniques for those in need of rehabilitation. For a five year period, Mr. Pizzi was assigned full-time to the high intensity drug trafficking area multi-agency task force in South Florida, where he worked on a daily basis with FBI, DEA, Customs, ATF, U.S. Marshals and virtually every other state, federal and local law enforcement agency developing techniques to combat drug trafficking, money laundering and violent crime. Mr. Pizzi has written and spoken extensively about the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, innovative supervision techniques, and other topics relating to community corrections.

Upon becoming an attorney, Mr. Pizzi served as a law clerk for the Honorable Barry L. Garber, United States Magistrate Judge, Southern District of Florida, where he was involved on a daily basis in drafting opinions and orders on all aspects of federal criminal cases, including bond motions, suppression hearings and federal criminal discovery. Mr. Pizzi was the founder and editor of Probation Review in the Southern District of Florida. He currently represents clients who are being investigated or have been charged in state and federal criminal prosecutions.
