About Michael

Michael Tuma was born in Daytona, grew up in DeLand, and is a member of DeLand High School class of 1986.  He and his wife Carla have 3 children and reside in DeLand.

In 2000 Mr. Tuma received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stetson University and later attended UNLV's Boyd College of Law, and graduated from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2003. 

Mr. Tuma was employed as an Assistant State Attorney from 2003 until 2005, during which time he prosecuted approximately 8,000 to 10,000 cases.

Mr. Tuma was hired by Paul and Elkind in 2005.  His areas of practice include criminal defense involving DUI, battery, possession and other criminal charges.  He also handles a variety of civil matters including contract disputes, auto negligence, civil actions like foreclosures, collections, construction disputes, and other related general practice issues.  Mr. Tuma has picked over 40 juries both on behalf of the State of Florida and as a defense attorney, as well as trying non-jury actions. 

Currently he is a member of the Florida Bar, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the Florida Justice Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, the Volusia County Bar, the Board of Trustees for the Museum of Florida Art, and a volunteer with Volusia County Teen Court.
