Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
1)We represented a pedestrian in a personal injury case who was struck by a motor vehicle. He originally went to another attorney who determined he had a ""soft tissue"" case with minimal injuries and tried to quickly settle the case. The plaintiff was not satisfied with the other attorney's handling of his case so he came to us. We took the case and recommended the client be examined by a medical specialist who determined and properly evaluated that there was a herniated disc involved which required surgery. The case settled for six figures. 2) We represented a health care practice and several of their licensed professionals including physicians and nurses and other staff in accusations of Federal/State fraud and ethics violations. We were able to successfully resolve all pending charges without any penalties and disruption to the pending health care practice.
How did you build a successful practice?
Michael and several members of his legal team are former state prosecutors handling all types of fraud, licensure and regulatory matters. In addition, some of our lawyers worked for liability insurance and title insurance companies. Favia Law Firm has combined the experience and talents of these legal professionals to create a unique team of exceptional leading lawyers working together for their benefit of the client.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Experience, competence, ability to listen and communicate with the client and successfully negotiate with the adversary always keeping in mind what's best for the client.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
It is very important to be familiar and knowledgeable about pertinent laws, ever-changing rules and nuances in the local practice of law to be an effective counselor and litigator.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
We listen to the legal problem, determine if it's something our firm can handle, discuss various options and review the economics of the case to determine if the case is viable and to determine if a follow-up meeting is required.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
The facts of the case or problem at hand so that the discussion can be useful for both the client and the attorney.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
We are very experienced, diligent and accessible. There is no learning curve and in most cases the client saves on time and fees for unnecessary research needed to jump into a case. Our team is very experienced in a variety of areas of law and we have a very substantial number of experts, consultants and colleagues used as effective resources in pursuing a case for a client.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Whether it's a personal injury case, general litigation, real estate closings or preparing transactional and estate planning documents, we strive to meet and exceed all of our clients' expectations. This is most rewarding.
