About Miriam
Miriam J. (Mimi) Golbert , a partner with Glaser Weil, has extensive experience in estate planning, probate and trust administration, taxation of trusts and estates, and other estate and gift related practice areas. Ms. Golbert has been practicing in this area since 1979. Her broad experience includes sophisticated tax and estate planning for high net worth individuals, estate planning for non-citizens and non-residences of the United States, trust and estate administration, federal estate and gift tax examinations, and guardianships and conservatorships for minors and clients lacking the ability to handle their own affairs. Her planning assists clients both to solve complex estate and gift tax issues and to resolve the issues inherent in the transfer of family wealth and family businesses.
In recent years, Ms. Golbert has been active in dispute resolution matters arising from the administration of trusts and estates. She has provided counsel to corporate and individual trustees and fiduciaries regarding the resolution of disputes between beneficiaries, between beneficiaries and fiduciaries, and between classes of beneficiaries and fiduciaries themselves.
Ms. Golbert has taught Wills and Trusts at the University of La Verne, San Fernando Valley Campus (1991 to 1994) and has taught Federal Estate and Gift Taxation at Loyola University (1994-1995). She lectured and been a panelist on many programs sponsored by the California State Bar and other sponsors and has been a Co-Instructor for the University of Southern California Tax Institute. In conjunction with the being a Co-Instructor in 2000, she was published in USC's Major Tax Planning for the year 2000.
Ms. Golbert was born in Detroit, Michigan. She has B.A. and M.A. Degrees in Political Science from the University of Michigan and a certificate from the Institute for International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. She graduated from UCLA Law School in 1978 and in 1991 earned an LLM in Taxation from the University of San Diego.
