About Orlando

Orlando Mondragon was born in Bejucos, Guerrero, Mexico. He is the fifth child of seven siblings. At the age of five, his family migrated to Lockney, Texas, just northeast of Lubbock, Texas.

In his adolescent and teenage years, he worked in the farming industry ranging from hoeing cotton to picking and planting onions to working in the cotton gin. From working within this environment, he witnessed and experienced the exploitation that non-citizens (aliens) experienced from citizens such as earning pay below minimum wage, irregular pay for overtime hours, inadequate sanitations, etc. It was these experiences that instilled the desire to become an attorney.

He graduated from Lockney High School. He went onward to commence and complete his undergraduate studies at Angelo State University earning his dual degrees in Political Science and Computer Science Engineer. Immediately afterward, he enrolled into Texas Tech University School of Law to conquer his childhood goal. In May of 1999, he succeeded and was awarded his law degree. That same year, he was issued his Texas Bar License after passing that State's Bar Exam on his first attempt. In 2005, Orlando achieved in obtaining his New Mexico Bar License on his first attempt as well.

While in law school, Orlando interned for the Federal Public Defender of Las Cruces in the summer of 1998. After graduation, Orlando worked for the El Paso Legal Assistance Society in El Paso from 1999 to 2000. He mostly handled family law matters such as divorces, custodies, and adoptions. From 2000 to 2001, Orlando worked as an Assistant District Attorney for El Paso County. He prosecuted all misdemeanors cases.

On December 2001, Orlando achieved his childhood goal and established his own law practice in El Paso, Texas, concentrating significantly on immigration and criminal law.

Orlando is licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas to practice law in all Texas State Courts. He is also licensed by the Supreme Court of New Mexico to practice law in all New Mexico State Courts.
