Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Our client, Jesus Moreno, was hit and run over by a City of Detroit bus while riding his motorcycle and suffered the loss of his dominant (right) hand and a traumatic brain injury. The loss of his hand cost him his career as a graphic designer and significantly impacted his ability to compete as a high level triathlete. Jesus also suffered a brain injury causing him to completely lose his senses of taste and smell in addition to having trouble hearing, seeing and speaking. Our team of personal injury lawyers fought the insurance company and won a $9.6 million settlement for Jesus. He has now been able to get back to leading a more normal life, thanks to his new robotic hand and the Mike Morse Law Firm team.
How did you build a successful practice?
Michael J. Morse grew up in suburban metro Detroit with his father Joel, a solo lawyer, and his mother Sue, a retired school librarian. After the sudden 1990 death of his father, Mike became determined to finish law school and carry on his father’s legacy of helping people. Thus, the Mike Morse Law Firm was born. We are now Michigan’s largest personal injury law firm, and we fight relentlessly to protect the rights of those who have been injured. The Mike Morse Law Firm team is dedicated to both our core values and fiercely advocating for our clients. This means that behind the scenes, we’re committed to winning, we’re hardworking, we provide outstanding customer service, and we only put out exceptional work.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
When searching for a personal injury lawyer, it’s important to look for a firm that truly specializes in the area of law you need help with. When you hire the Mike Morse Law Firm, you get the experience of over 150 top rated legal professionals who are trained in personal injury law. We have one mission - to protect the people in the state of Michigan that have been injured due to someone else’s negligence. It’s also important to look for a personal injury lawyer that is established. Smaller law firms oftentimes have a hard time spending the money for the right experts the case requires and push clients to settle rather than taking a case to trial, so they can pay the bills. As Michigan’s largest personal injury firm, we have the money and patience to take cases to trial and ensure clients get the most money possible.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
In your free phone consultation, we will provide you with our decision on whether or not we can represent you. We can provide legal advice to answer any questions you might have regarding personal injury cases within our area of practice. For certain cases that we don’t usually handle within the firm, such as ones pertaining to medical malpractice, we will refer you to another practice who specializes in that area of practice and can help you. Overall, we will attempt to gather as much information relevant to the case in order to determine whether or not you have a case, and if we can help you.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
During your free phone consultation, we will need your contact information, insurance information, the case type (slip and fall, dog bite, auto accident, etc), the date the event happened, the police report number, and the incident report number. We may or may not need photos depending on the case type.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
At Mike Morse Law Firm we take pride in being good at what we do, but also in doing good in our community. We have a long history of commitment to our community and are actively involved in numerous community and business organizations. The law firm’s flagship program, Project Backpack, was founded by Mike Morse in 2014 and has donated nearly 200,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to Detroit area kids. Mike Morse also aims to give back through his podcast Open Mike. Mike shares advice on the law and brings injustices within our justice system to light.
