Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
The cases where you make the most difference are the cases where you help someone stay in their home, get out from under a pile of medical bills, or credit card debt that was the result of extenuating circumstances.
How did you build a successful practice?
My practice has been built primarily through referrals from other attorneys and satisfied clients.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should look for an attorney who is knowledgeable in their field, has experience in their field and is responsive to their needs.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is very important to the success of cases in the bankruptcy court. Different judges like things different ways, different judges have idiosyncrasies about budgets and luxury items, different trustees have different requirements. Knowing these things ahead of time makes a case go smoother and ultimately results in less attorney fees for clients.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
There is very little that can be provided in a free phone consultation because the bankruptcy code has specific requirements for disclosures that must be made to debtors before legal advice can be dispensed. Only general information regarding the types of bankruptcies and answers to general questions regarding the consequences and benefits of a bankruptcy filing
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I have never been a ""high-volume"" lawyer, but rather I take cases for clients that need extra care or cases that are more complicated and need extra time. I am known for compassionate care for my clients and their cases. When you call, I answer the phone, I meet with you personally and help you decide whether bankruptcy is the right choice for you, and if so, what kind.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of my job is helping people. Financial problems are extremely stressful for people and it is very rewarding to be able to relieve that stress and give people a fresh start.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Other interests: antiquing, working on her 150 year old home, camping, traveling and spending time with family.
Are you involved in your community?
Community involvement: member of Credit Education Coalition (treasurer), member of Delaware County Bar Association, VP for Fundraising for Grand Pacer Marching Band at Delaware Hayes High School.
