Martin J. McManus, a third generation attorney, has long been dedicated to the practice of personal injury, wrongful death, car accident, medical malpractice, personal injury protection and a range of other legal areas since 1987. As a trial lawyer for 23 years, specializing in civil and criminal matters, Martin offers years of experience and extensive knowledge of the law, as well as a deep dedication to his clients. Sam G. Caras (samcaras@caraslaw.com) was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. After a youth marked by participation in sports, Sam attended Wright State University, from which he graduated cum laude. During his last two years of undergraduate education he worked as a legislative aid for the Honorable C. J. McLin, and as a laborer in several industrial plants. Sam enrolled in the University of Dayton Law School in 1977 and graduated in 1980. During law school he enjoyed the privilege to clerk for the Honorable George J. Gounaris of the Civil Division of the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court for three years, while working part-time for two years with the City of Dayton Prosecutor's Office. Following graduation from law school he entered into private practice as an associate in an insurance defense firm, focusing on civil litigation defense of motor vehicle accidents, products liability, insurance, and professional liability cases. For several years after becoming partner in the insurance defense firm his practice concentration increasingly developed in plaintiff's personal injury and wrongful death. In 1990 he left the insurance defense practice and has since been practicing almost exclusively in the areas of medical and professional malpractice, wrongful death, serious personal injury, insurance litigation, with periodic referrals for business and contract litigation. Sam has practiced before all levels of Ohio courts, including successful arguments before the Ohio Supreme Court. He also has extensive experience in federal practice, particularly including practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, along with pro hac vice admissions in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama and U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

A graduate of Moeller High School, Miami University, and Chase College of Law, Steve has extensive courtroom experience as a past city prosecutor, and a defense attorney. Steve is licensed to practice in all Ohio Courts as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the Warren County Bar Association.

Christopher “Chip” Hickey has represented hundreds of clients with mesothelioma and other asbestos related diseases throughout Ohio and North Carolina. Chip has also represented victims of catastrophic injuries caused by defective products and negligent conduct.

Josh Hodges has been lucky enough to have life experiences that set him apart from most lawyers. Soon after high school, he got a full-time job at a factory. This was not a summer job between semesters of college, this was his living. At this job, he ran a machine that dipped hot pieces of metal into liquid plastic and he came home every day dirty and smelling of burnt plastic fumes. This job led to another factory job where he worked 3rd shift. During this time, he went to class at Miami Hamilton often with nothing more than a thirty-minute nap in the parking lot. However, he kept getting up and going to work and showing up to class until he graduated with honors. Josh knows nothing other than putting his head down and getting the job done. He also knows what it is like to struggle and this gives him a valuable perspective when dealing with his clients many of whom are in his office due to some type of difficult situation. Josh has also been lucky enough to obtain professional experience that sets him apart from most lawyers. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Salmon P. Chase College of Law where he was elected Student Bar Association President and National Treasurer of NLLSA. Due to his outstanding academic record, he was offered a job at one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the Midwestern United States. In this role, he garnered experiences in many types of cases and represented large corporations and governmental entities. Namely, he was involved in defense side civil litigation including the defense of personal injury claims. Josh is one of the very few local lawyers with this type of big law firm experience and this proves invaluable to his clients. After getting valuable experience at other firms, and assisting clients both throughout the country and internationally, Josh decided to bring his practice to his hometown of Hamilton, Ohio. This is where he lives, where his child goes to school, where many of his friends and family are, and that is where he wants to serve. Josh practices personal injury law throughout Southwest Ohio. He lives in one of Hamilton’s great historic neighborhoods with his wife, son, and baby daughter. He loves his family, his community, and gives his clients everything he has.

Ken is one of the founding Partners and is responsible for both the management of the firm and is the head of the Workers’ Compensation practice. He is a member of the Workers’ Injury Law Group, W.I.L.G., which is a national organization dedicated to protecting the rights of injured persons throughout the country. Ken has represented both injured workers and employers at all levels of the administrative process, including dealing with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) as well as appearing before the Industrial Commission of Ohio (IC) since 1995. He has also been involved in litigation before the Common Pleas Courts throughout Ohio and has been involved in Mandamus Actions before the Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court. Ken is a graduate of Wittenberg University (Summa Cum Laude, 1991) and a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Law (1994). He has also taught a Business Law Class as an Adjunct Professor at Wittenberg University during 2010 and 2011 and has participated in the evaluation of Senior Business Majors final projects on several occasions at his alma mater.

Mr. O'Brien received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Walsh University and a Juris Doctor Degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Mr. O' Brien joined Ibold & O'Brien (formerly Petersen & Ibold) upon his admission to the practice of law in 2000. Mr. O'Brien is a member of the Geauga County, Ashtabula County and Ohio State Bar Associations. Mr. O'Brien practices in the areas of general litigation, criminal law, personal injury, real estate, business law, estate planning, probate and collections among others.
