Questions & Answers

How did you build a successful practice?

I believe past experience and track record is very important for the foundation of a law practice. I also believe putting everything you have into the firm will generate results ten-fold because hard work does indeed pay off. Having great relationships with clients and strong communication only assists in building the practice because results matter and a happy client is a check in the right column.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

If you sit down for a consultation or even have one over the phone and walk away not being comfortable with the attorney or liking their personality, it will never be a good fit. Listen, sometimes it is not a good fit from the start. I would rather lose a case and client than have them hire me when we both know from the get go that our views or opinions on the particular case are different. Some attorneys will just "sell" it as best they can to obtain the client, take their money, and then neglect the client in the end. Nobody wins in those situations. I prefer to have strong relationships with my clients and most importantly, strong communication with my clients.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

I believe it is very important. Having a firm grasp and understanding of local rules and procedures is very important, and having a working knowledge and relationship of not only fellow attorneys, but judges, can sometimes be key to properly advising and representing a client.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

While most of the conversation during a phone consultation is done in generalities, an attorney can answer a good majority of a client's questions and concerns and assist in determining if they 1. need an attorney and 2. have the proper grounds to move forward on a case.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

I like to keep my phone consultations pretty open. I am pretty liberal with them and am not going to demand a potential client provide me information before speaking, cut them off due to time, answer only a specific list of questions, etc.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I have been practicing for 10 years now and believe that my experience as a former prosecutor, an associate attorney in private attorney firms, and now a solo practitioner has built the foundation for my success. I truly believe that I have sustainable relationships with my clients and do not just disregard them when their case is done and I like to believe that I make a difference in my client's lives especially when they are going through tough times. My firm's motto is, ""Advocacy, Honesty, Results,"" and I strive to ring true to that motto every day in my practice as a lawyer.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Getting to help people; achieving justice; trying to add a little faith in the legal system every single day.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

My family has and always will come first. I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful children. We are big Disney fans being considered ""locals"" and try to spend our free time having fun as a family.

Are you involved in your community?

Yes, I try to be involved as I can while being a solo practitioner. I am involved in the Legal Aid Society's Guardian ad Litem program as an attorney GAL. I also attend and sponsor as many local events and charities as I can and am welcome to new and charitable opportunities.
