Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
""I hired Judge Diaz in 2017 for my divorce. Divorcing my spouse wasn't a choice I wanted, but at the time it was the only option. Because of his support and guidance, Judge Diaz helped save my marriage and my family. I can't describe how safe I felt in the hands of an experienced and dedicated attorney especially when I was most vulnerable. I know now that without him, things could of ended up a lot different for my family. I'm forever grateful for his assistance. He's definitely one in a million. If anyone needs someone they can trust and will fight the good fight for you, then HE IS YOUR MAN!!. GOD BLESS JUDGE DIAZ!"" ""Wow, this comment is very humbling. Many attorneys practice law because they just want to, ""...make a difference"", but far fewer attorneys actually achieve it or actually make a positive impact, and fewer still are informed of the difference they have made! Realizing that I may have ""made a difference"" in one client's life, marriage and family is amazingly rewarding and gratifying! Thank you Liliana; I will always cherish your gracious comments! O. Rene Diaz""
How did you build a successful practice?
By always acting ethically, honestly and professionally. It takes time, but you develop a reputation. I am proud to have achieved an A.V. Preeminent rating with Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer-review rating for ethical standards and legal ability. I also strive to always provide my clients with careful, individualized attention. With the help of my experienced and trusty staff, we try always to respond promptly to questions and concerns that clients communicate to us. By taking the burdens off of my clients; I tell my clients: ""I will be your Atlas. As you may recall, in Greek mythology, the Titan, Atlas was responsible for bearing the weight of the heavens on his shoulders, a burden given to him by Zeus. Only I carry the burdens willingly, to take all the worry and anxiety of litigation off of my clients, I tell them, ""You don't worry, let me do all of the worrying."" I also constantly update and stay abreast of new developments in the law. My high level of legal knowledge, ability and excellent reputation was recognized by Texas Governor Rick Perry when he appointed me as Judge of the 224th Judicial District Court in Bexar County, Texas, where I served until 2007.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should look for a lawyer with experience, and an excellent reputation in the legal community, which you cannot get overnight. Both legal experience, and a good reputation are carefully earned, cultivated and developed over the years by demonstrating a high level of legal knowledge, by producing excellent work product and by dealing not only with clients, but also with other attorneys, and with the courts in an honest and forthright manner.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Knowing the "lay of the land," is as crucial to a litigation matter as it is to having an experienced "guide" on a wilderness adventure. You would never go into "unknown hostile territory" without someone to guide you. That is equally true for litigation in Texas. You must employ someone who knows the tendencies and proclivities of the judges before whom you will be appearing, and one who knows the other attorneys, the local rules, and the composition of juries in each venue. I can provide my clients with extensive legal knowledge developed through over 28 years of dealing with all of these factors in more than twenty different counties and venues throughout South and Central Texas, the Hill Country, the Rio Grande Valley, Dallas, Houston and Austin, in both State and Federal Courts.
