About Patrick
Attorney Day was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1998 and the Connecticut Bar in 2000. He is admitted to practice in both the state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. He is a graduate of Providence College (B.A., History 1991) and Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware (J.D., magna cum laude 1998). While at Widener, Attorney Day was selected as a Josiah Wolcott Fellow and worked as a law clerk to the Honorable Randy J. Holland of the Delaware Supreme Court.
His primary practice area is general civil litigation, concentrating in negligence, personal injury, products liability, and commercial litigation. In addition to motor vehicle and slip and fall cases, Attorney Day has represented claimants in cases brought against major manufacturers of home appliances and other household products.
Attorney Day has also represented a diverse range of business clients, including both legal entities and individuals, in a wide array of commercial matters, breach of contract, tortious interference, misrepresentation, franchise disputes and related business torts. He has both pursued and defended claims brought under a host of consumer protection statutes, including Connecticut's Unfair Trade Practices Act ("CUTPA"), Home Improvement Act ("HIA"), the Home Solicitation Sales Act ("HSSA"), and the motor vehicle Lemon Law.
In construction matters, Attorney Day has represented general contractors, subcontractors and, at times, sureties, in connection with public and private projects. He recently represented a roofing contractor in a claim brought by a school system alleging asbestos contamination and was successful in substantially limiting liability for remediation costs in light of evidence demonstrating other contributing, third party sources of the contamination. He currently represents a general contractor in several cases brought in District Court under the federal Miller Act arising from a 223-unit revitalization project supervised by the United States Navy. The claims and defenses asserted in these cases present complex issues of project scheduling, coordination and delay.
Attorney Day is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, and the New London County Bar Association. He sits on the board of the Front Porch Foundation, a local nonprofit organization devoted to assisting low-income, elderly and disabled tenants of federal and state subsidized housing within the City of New London. Attorney Day also volunteers for Lawyers for Children America, which provides pro bono legal services for children involved in abuse and neglect proceedings in the Connecticut Juvenile Court.
