About Patrick

Patrick J. Hopkins was born in Storm Lake, Iowa on September 14, 1950.  Mr. Hopkins was admitted to the Iowa and Nebraska Bar in 1975 and the District of Columbia Bar in 1982.

Mr. Hopkins received his preparatory education at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, graduating in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

Mr. Hopkins studied law at Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1975.

After law school, Mr. Hopkins occupied a number of positions in both the private and public sector which focused exclusively in the area of Trial Practice.  This emphasis culminated in his appointment as the head of the Trial Division for the City of Des Moines Legal Department.

Mr. Hopkins joined the firm in 1989 and became a partner in 1990 and the firm became Austin, Gaudineer, Austin, Salmons, Swanson & Hopkins.  Mr. Hopkins is a member of the American Bar Association, the Iowa Bar Association, the Nebraska Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar Association.
